Description and purpose of the Club

EuroAquae Club of Friends

The Management Board of EuroAquae decided to create a Club of Friends of the Course, the members of which would be in the first place experienced engineers and managers of industrial, engineering and consulting companies, utilities, regulatory and administrative bodies in local, regional or national governments. The purpose is to create personal links between Water Sector professional community and its future members, i.e.Euro-Aquae students. To make it easier to the latter to integrate this community.

Club of Friends Members' potential benefits and points of interest would be:

  •  Knowledge and intelligence on the profile of the future specialist on employees market.

  • Have direct access to a source of recruitment of highly specialised graduates and be able to advice on their professional profile and curricula.
  • Participate in informal seminar meetings and discussions with students and their teachers as well as with other members of the profession, regulating agencies and development institutes; to create personal links and to obtain intelligence on most recent practices, methods, tools and problems.
  • To be able through the above to influence the development of tools and the acceptance of useful paradigms in employment of the tools, as well as to influence the content of the Course.

EuroAquae would in turn expect participation and input of the Club members in several practical areas such as:

  • Express their points of view on the curricula and quality of the activities of the Project.

  • Help in finding training positions for the students during their last 6 months of the Course.
  •   Supply speakers for specialty lectures to the students on activities of industry and R&D institutions.
  •   Participate, with other members of the Club, in periodically organised (say once a year) informal seminars to discuss with students the present and the future situation and needs of hydroinformatics and water management in Europe.
  •   Meet with students during the seminars or other informal meetings with the purpose to create personal links with students. To help students to integrate the profession and establish professional contacts even before they obtain the diplomas.

An important objective sought is not only to launch a bridge between specialised studies and professions interested in hydroinformatics domain but also to make clear to the profession that such links exist. Thus the description, purposes and activities of the Euro-Aquae Club of Friends, as well as the names of its members (institutional and persons) will find their place in the Euro-Aquae Course Handbook and other information material on the Course.
